It’s that time again. The greatest celebration of influential popular music from the heart of the United Kingdom is once again upon us, and we can all feel very spoilt with the wealth of talent on show. Last year’s BRIT Awards was an incredible night, with stars like Adele, Justin Bieber and Rihanna gracing the stage for a musical experience that none will soon forget, but the 2017 edition promises to pull out all the stops for a barnstorming display.
With the tone set during the nominations show which featured Craig David, Rag’n’Bone Man, Christine and the Queens and Calum Scott as live performers on the night, we can expect an awards show full of good vibes. In a year when soulful medleys have reigned supreme, we wait to see who will be the presenter to guide us through the night that defines success in popular music; crooner Michael Buble was to be the choice, but he has pulled out due to his son’s ill health.
The O2 London will once again play host to the ceremony that has seen Madonna take a tumble, Adele giving producers the finger and Robbie Williams square up to Noel Gallagher. The BRITs are never short of drama, and with the level of competition in some of this year’s categories, it would be no surprise if the 2017 night serves up a little more. The glitz and glamour of the BRITs make it a superb opportunity to entertain business partners/clients. You are guaranteed to make an impression with a night among the stars, through the universal brand of music. Everyone has an opinion on music, and won’t fail to be swept up in the ups and downs of the BRIT awards.
As voting draws to a close, nominees in all categories feature a range of musical styles and artists at different stages of their careers. BRIT stalwarts like David Bowie, Radiohead, Coldplay, and the reinvented Craig David compete with the brightest new stars like Stormzy, Biffy Clyro and EmeliSandé. On the international front, Beyoncé and Rihanna feature once again against new trendsetters like Sia, and another sorely missed icon, Leonard Cohen, has his name thrown into the hat. Urban music, particularly Grime in the UK, has been as prominent as it ever was in British music trends, and it has a strong showing among the nominations, but the BRITs 2017 doesn’t disappoint in its usual focus on variety as the spice of life.
The BRIT Awards 2017 will be brought to us by Mastercard and come with more buzz and mystery than perhaps ever before. The choice of host remains uncertain and the first of its kind Nominee Announcement Show on January 14th really gave eager viewers a sumptuous taste of what’s in store. Everyone has their own reasons for being excited about the BRITs, and we all have our own expectations regarding who will win in each category – and what the response will be from others. We can feel very hopeful that the night will be one of drama and emotion, and you can feel confident that relationships with clients and partners will be cemented by a night at the ceremony. Whatever draws you to it, February 22nd is sure to be a great night for music lovers everywhere.
